Meet The Team
General Manager
Kyla Brown
Kyla has spent the past 12 years as a sports promoter, specializing in owning and operating tennis events, including WTA and exhibition-style events throughout California, Texas, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Along the way, she has developed strong partnerships with major corporations and local businesses.
A graduate of San Diego State University, Kyla has called San Diego home for more than 20 years and has always considered La Jolla her favorite corner of the city. Even more exciting for us, Kyla has been an LJTC member for the past five years, so she already knows and appreciates what makes our club special.
Pro Shop Staff
Doug Purvis
Doug has spent his lifetime working in the tennis world. He's done about every tennis job you can have from teaching pro to Director of Tennis. Now retired, Doug has joined the LJTC team to help the club out in any way he can. As an LJTC member himself, he enjoys connecting with everyone that comes in to the club.
Ryan Salas
Ryan is a San Diego native who is a recent graduate from UC San Diego with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Along with playing tennis on the UCSD club social team, he plays regularly with his friends and loves to grow and continue to learn about the game. His accepting and inviting attitude creates a welcoming environment at the club.
Alli Thamm
Born and raised in Boulder Colorado, Alli has been playing tennis her whole life and coaching for the last 10 years. Alli studied international affairs and marketing at CU Boulder but always found her love for tennis and beer were her main priorities. The last couple of years she took a break from coaching to pursue a brew master for beer and now continues to work at a local brewery as the marketing manager and hopes to get back into the tennis world here at LJTC!
Laura Frasure
Laura was born and raised in Orange County and has returned to San Diego after spending the past decade living in Arizona, Texas, and Colorado. She is pursuing her master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology at San Diego State University while also working as a Program Manager in the telecommunications industry. A lifelong tennis enthusiast, Laura grew up playing the sport and is excited to share her passion for the game with fellow club members.
Bela Diaz
Bela was born and raised in Texas, but she made her way out to sunny San Diego to study at Point Loma Nazarene University. She recently graduated and plans on attending law school. Bela has played tennis her whole life and has worked at other tennis facilities n San Diego!

Pro Shop
The Pro Shop offers logo wear, balls, tennis items, snacks & drinks. Our staff is here to assist in your court bookings, matching you with an instructor for lessons, and to answer any questions you have.

The Pro Shop closes for a one-hour lunch break sometime between 12:30 and 2:30 PM. Please call or text ahead if you’re planning a midday visit.

Racquet Stringing
La Jolla Tennis Club offers professional racquet stringing by Jose Zaragoza. With 10 years of racquet-stringing experience, Jose brings extensive knowledge, precision, and attention to detail to every racquet he strings. He currently strings racquets at a professional racquet-stringing workshop in addition to providing stringing services at La Jolla Tennis Club. As a competitive tennis player and experienced coach, Jose understands how string tension, string selection, and racquet setup can influence a player’s performance on the court. He takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality stringing tailored to each player’s individual needs, playing style, and preferences. Whether you’re looking for more power, control, spin, comfort, or a customized setup, Jose’s goal is to help every player get the most out of their equipment.
Racquets can be dropped off at the Pro Shop and are usually ready for pickup the next business day.

Ball Machine
The ball machine is available for rent for one hour or 30 minutes. Members can reserve directly through the online booking system. Â Non-members can book by calling the Pro Shop.
Members: $15/hour
Non-members: $15/hour, plus a $10 day pass

The ball machine can be reserved 7 days in advance.

12-hour cancellation required.
No refunds if cancelled outside of the cancellation window.
