Ty Johnson

Ty Johnson has been teaching for at least 30 years. With many tournament wins in his background, it is difficult to narrow down his many accomplishments. One outstanding 1995 achievement was being awarded San Diego Men’s NUMBER ONE tennis player in the thirty-fives. You will appreciate his expert tennis instruction during lessons, and his pleasant personality while encouraging your best performance on the court.

Prior to joining the La Jolla Tennis Club, Brent worked with a number of junior players at George Barnes Tennis Center. He also worked at Rancho Santa Fe Country Club and Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa with numerous juniors and adults.  Since 2004, Brent has been making a difference at LJTC with League Players, Juniors, and Adults wanting to fine tune their skills. That year, he was instrumental in achieving the coveted SD District Association Tournament of the Year award for LJTC.

Dave enjoys teaching juniors and is eager to work with players of all ages. He especially likes to help players to improve their groundstrokes.

One of the leading tennis minds in San Diego, our Director of Youth Tennis, Michael Bucher, is a top-tier technician, tactician, and program builder.

After spending a decade helping to direct the high performance program at the renown Barnes Tennis Center, Michael left to build an academy of his own. And soon after, the La Jolla Tennis Academy was born. Michael built it from the ground up, and now, 4 years in, the academy is thriving, consistently full with a waitlist program to join.

Michael has helped thousands of players of all ages and levels advance their game. And he can help you too.
